Master Gardener Annual Report – 2007

Master Gardeners are making a big difference in Florida. In 2007, these dedicated individuals volunteered more than 425,000 hours—the equivalent of adding 200 full-time employees to the UF/IFAS Extension Service.

Master Gardener volunteers help lighten the load for county horticulture agents by participating in a range of different activities, including but not limited to these areas:

  • Answering gardening questions over the phone, in the Extension office, and at public events
  • Helping create and sustain demonstration gardens, community gardens, and school garden programs
  • Disseminating UF/IFAS gardening information through presentations at garden club meetings, garden festivals, and other events
