Globe Amaranth (Gomphrena globosa)
Globe amaranth is an annual which grows up to two feet in height. The plant is round and dense. The leaves are opposite, simple, oblong, and two to four inches in length. The one to two inch, globe-shaped flowers are on upright spikes. The individual flowers are inconspicuous, but the stiff, papery bracts are in shades of purple, pink, yellow or white.
